Discover What You Must Know About the Latest iPod Touch Releases

With the 32GB iPod Touch making it into Time’s top gadgets to pack in your luggage for 2009; it is perhaps time to take a look at some of the latest releases. This is not easy of course, with it having more suitors than Paris Hilton; but hopefully you’ll appreciate these.

One such application that has been a long time coming is the availability of Trillian on the iPod Touch. Priced at five dollars from the Apple App Store, the Instant Messenger of choice for many is finally here.

It is packed full of features that regular users of the desktop software will be familiar with. Contacts can be organized into groups, and are easily sorted into user defined categories. Users are also able to have multiple chats open, via a handy tabbed browser.

More than this though, and particularly helped by updates from Apple themselves, it allows users to toggle their online status, select an avatar and customize messages according to the status set. Whatever the status and whether the app is activated or not, users will receive notifications of messages, selecting to reply, or not, as they wish.

The beauty of the app of course is in its ability to handle instant messaging from a range of platforms, and synchronize this effortlessly. However, use of it does mean that users will need a Trillian Astra account, though this too can be done via the iPod Touch.

Whilst not initially its main purpose in life, the iPod Touch is fast becoming most used as a gaming device. Mindful of this, it is worth taking at look at some of the latest games available.

Considering how successful its predecessor was, The Treasures of Montezuma 2 is likely to be a hit. At just $1. 99 from the Apple app store too, the improved challenges and greater number of levels to play are likely to be tempting to casual gamers too.

Equally likely to be popular; and possibly more so, is the Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs platform game. Lovers of all three films will know the character Scrat well. The lovable squirrel’s sole aim in life seems to be his pursuit of the elusive acorn, and now gamers are invited to play the role and help him in his hilarious search.

Whilst no new releases have yet been announced, Konami also has some great news for gamers; having thrown all its titles into the $. 99 bin. Expect sales of Krazy Kart Racing and Silent Hill to go through the roof any time soon.

The iPod Touch is of course as much as a musical player as it is a gaming device. And an app that looks set to be popular with music enthusiasts is the iSample 2. 0. Much of the included kit is that seen on pro apps, so it looks set to be big.

These are of course just a few of the latest highlights. You can expect there to be many more over the next few weeks. And that is before we even get started on the iPod Touch accessories.

If you are looking for a great gift to give your kid this christmas, you may want to think of looking at the ipod touch. Remember that you do not need to buy it new, you could always opt for a used ipod touch.
